Role: Video Editor / Content Creator

Role Overview

We are seeking an expert video editor and storyteller to create videos for our short-form channels (TikTok, Instagram Reels, Shorts, Snapchat), and to help us develop a long-form content offering too. 

Role Deliverables

• Passionate about creating visually and sonically engaging stories.
• Understand how to create an engaging story with a fast-paced style that retains viewers.
• Constantly think about how to tell better stories and improve on previous versions.
• Understand the role of music in videos and how visuals and sounds support each other.
• Edit videos quickly, stylishly and professionally.
• Compile story recordings, photos, videos and music to create an engaging video to fulfill specifications and hit our objectives – in both a high-speed and high-quality manner.
• Incorporate feedback on videos from team members.
• Write out / present all subtitles in an engaging style.
• Ensure the consistent high-quality output of content.
• Produce cutdowns of videos for use across short-form platforms (e.g. TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and Youtube Shorts as and when needed).
• Create longer-form video versions when required (e.g. for YouTube, website pages etc).
• Research thoroughly to be culturally and technically on-point.
• Support with video topic ideation and ‘deep dive’ into the relevant niche/music genre.
• Identify the best videos, photos, music tracks/sounds and other assets to use.
• Stay on top of trending music tracks/sounds & artists on short-form platforms – especially in the S&C space (i.e. hip-hop, rap – both UK & US – r&b, afrobeats genres).
• Work with team members to establish and refine an engaging short-form content style.
• Create and develop an engaging video style, refining this based on team feedback. 
• Optimise placements and design thumbnails (e.g. YouTube search, Instagram grid etc).
• Collaborate with team member(s) to guide the strategic direction for content created. 
• Regular improvement and innovation of content, based on platform insights and video performance analytics (which should be reviewed weekly for all the content produced).
• Conduct research into content styles and formats that perform on different platforms, ensuring that our content stays up-to-date and in line with current trends in the space.
• Work hard to meet all deadlines in a timely, organised fashion.
• Deliver daily video content to a high standard, as and when required.
• Collaborate with S&C team to hit deadlines for larger projects (e.g. events promotion).
• Post videos to social media platforms once created.
• Drafting captions to accompany video content when posted to social media pages.
• Adding in relevant, trend-based, high-performance hashtags to necessary posts.
• Approve caption copy with S&C team before posting, incorporating any feedback.
• Post videos to relevant platforms (inc. Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat etc).

Logistics and Package

1. 6-month, full-time contract with S&C Productions (with plan to extend to a full-time role).
2. Minimum 40 hours per week, with some flexibility in order to hit required deadlines. 
3. Remote position with the opportunity for trips to London to meet in person. 
4. Weekly calls as minimum with the S&C team, plus ad-hoc calls when required.
5. Available to contact during core work hours (UK) as a minimum via Slack (i.e. messaging).
6. Salary: €1,800- €2,000 per month.
7. Role start: August 2024

Skills and Experience

1. Excellent video editing skills and confident storyteller with strong experience in short-form video.
2. At least 4 years of video editing experience using software such as Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or Davinci Resolve.
3. 2 years experience with motion graphics editing on Adobe After Effects.
4. Fluent in English and proficient in copywriting (for social media posts).
