JOB VACANCY – PROJECT MANAGER 

Balkan Green Foundation (BGF) is a regional organisation established to advocate and promote sustainable development in the Western Balkans, specifically concentrating on a number of key topics such as sustainable economic development, environmental protection, energy development, and climate change. 

Position Overview: 

BGF is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Project Manager to join our team in our Prishtina office. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage impactful projects that contribute to sustainable development across the region. As a Project Manager, you will play a central role in designing, executing, and evaluating projects focused on environmental protection, energy transition, and climate adaptation. 

In this role, you will oversee the successful implementation of multiple projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the intended outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, a keen attention to detail, and effective leadership and communication capabilities. 

This position reports directly to the Programmes Development Manager. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Project Design, Management, and Implementation: 

  • Plan, execute, and manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets. 
  • Develop detailed project plans that outline scope, objectives, deliverables, and required resources. 
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identifying risks and challenges, and developing strategies to mitigate them. 
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports, including progress updates, budget summaries, and evaluation results, to the BGF team and senior management. 
  • Continuously refine project management processes and methodologies to enhance effectiveness. 

Team and Budget Management: 

  • Lead and manage a team of 3-4 coordinators/officers, providing guidance and support to ensure project success. 
  • Oversee and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. 

Strategic and Annual Planning: 

  • Contribute to the development of BGF’s strategic and annual planning processes, ensuring that project objectives align with the foundation’s long-term goals. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Maintain strong relationships and engage with key stakeholders, including partners, donors, and target communities in Kosovo, the Western Balkans, and wider Europe. 

Fundraising, Communications, MEL, and Advocacy: 

  • Collaborate with internal teams on fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with finance, administration, communications, research, and programme development teams to ensure: 
  • Integration of projects with organisational goals and objectives. 
  • High-quality and timely delivery of project outcomes. 
  • Development of competitive funding proposals. 
  • Enhanced external communications, learning, and advocacy. 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Take on other duties as required by the supervisor to support the organisation’s objectives and ensure the successful delivery of projects. 

Requirements / Essential Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Education: A University Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field. A BA/MA in energy or environmental policy is preferred but not required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, ideally within civil society organisations. 
  • Project Management: Proven track record in project cycle management, including design, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. 
  • Management Skills: Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to provide strategic guidance, technical oversight, and team development. 
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Strategic Planning: Ability to contribute to organisational strategy and align project objectives with broader goals. 
  • Fundraising: Experience in maintaining donor relationships and collaborating on fundraising initiatives. 
  • Efficiency: Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment. 
  • Autonomy: Self-driven, with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision. 
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in both English and Albanian (written and verbal). Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in the region, is an asset. 
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills. Public Speaking: Strong public speaking skills.
