Position Overview:
The American School of Kosova is seeking a proactive and dedicated Discipline Coordinator. This role is crucial in promoting a positive school culture while ensuring student discipline and attendance align with our community standards and policies. The Discipline Coordinator will work closely with students, parents, faculty, and staff to foster a safe and respectful learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a proactive program that promotes Virtues of Character, aiming to eliminate discipline issues before they arise.
- Oversee the management of student attendance and discipline records, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Establish clear procedures for handling challenging students and maintaining high standards for conduct across the campus.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with parents, teachers, and staff regarding any infractions of the school’s code of conduct, academic integrity, or other policies.
- Assist faculty in organizing and planning campus-wide events and programs that promote student engagement and positive behavior.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the school’s emergency evacuation and preparedness plans.
- Organize academic intervention programs, including detention, suspension, study hall, and lunch detention.
- Mentor and counsel at-risk students and those requiring additional staff support, helping them overcome challenges and succeed academically and socially.
- Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, and procedures related to student behavior and attendance.
- Collaborate with teachers to create and manage behavior management plans and strategies that improve student conduct.
- Serve as an instructional resource, providing support for equitable practices and intervention services to ensure every student has access to success.
- Work closely with student services staff to provide guidance and motivation for students, developing individual plans for those who struggle.
- Meet with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested to support and advance educational and school-wide objectives.
- Supervise students during unstructured times, such as before and after school, during passing periods, and lunch times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in a similar role or related field (education, school administration, student services).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with students, staff, and parents in a collaborative and solution-oriented manner.
- Experience in mentoring or counseling students, particularly those considered at-risk.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and equitable educational practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations with poise and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
