Job Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented CAN Signal Processing and Visualization Engineer to join our team in the automotive sector. The ideal candidate will work on the acquisition, decoding, analysis, and visualization of CAN signals coming from various Electronic Control Units (ECUs) used in vehicles. This role involves working closely with automotive communication protocols, especially those aligned with German standards, such as UDS, AUTOSAR, and ISO 26262.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, decode, and process CAN messages using tools like Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, SavvyCAN, Peak Systems, or similar.
- Interpret DBC files to identify signal structure and ECU message content.
- Work with diagnostic communication protocols including UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) and J1939.
- Develop scripts (in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++) to automate CAN data processing and visualization tasks.
- Build dashboards or other visualization tools to display CAN data trends, faults, and real-time vehicle performance metrics.
- Collaborate with development and validation teams to support vehicle system debugging and fault analysis.
- Conduct in-vehicle testing or test bench validation to ensure correct CAN communication flow.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety and other German automotive standards.
- Document technical procedures and report findings in clear, structured formats suitable for OEM clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid experience working with CAN communication protocols in the automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of DBC file structure and CAN message decoding.
- Familiarity with automotive communication standards such as UDS, AUTOSAR, and J1939.
- Experience with scripting languages or tools used for signal processing and automation (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C/C++).
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 or other functional safety standards is a strong plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of German terminology is a plus.
