Assistant for the office of the EUSR for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues based in Pristina

The Assistant is a locally recruited post with duty station in Pristina. S/he will be part of the EUSR team tasked to assist the European Union Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues. S/he will support and work directly with the Pristina-based Political Adviser to ensure a smooth and effective functioning of the team in Pristina, which consists of a Political Adviser, Political Officer and the Assistant.
The Assistant will perform his/her tasks under the overall supervision of the EUSR represented by the Political Adviser.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Assists the EUSR and in particular his Political Adviser in Pristina with note-taking, as well as simultaneous and consecutive translation;
- Translates and takes notes at meetings and conferences, as well as prepares the respective drafts and documents;
- Helps to monitor local media and prepares briefing papers for meetings and conferences;
- Schedules appointments and meetings and maintain contacts with local authorities, institutions, civil society representatives and members of other international organisations;
- Establishes and maintains an updated contact list of interlocutors;
- Creates files and retrieves documents making sure that they are filed correctly;
- Provides support in designing and implementing projects, particularly supporting logistics and organization, including processing of travel claims;
- Assists on administrative issues;
- Performs other duties as required.
Job requirements
- University degree in relevant field of work or equivalent professional experience;
- A minimum of 6 years of appropriate work experience some of which within an international organisation;
- Excellent knowledge of English both oral and written and fluency in Albanian is required. Proficiency in Serbian is an asset but not a requirement;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Motivated, flexible and capable of working under pressure;
- Computer literacy with practical experience in Microsoft office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills;
- Creative and result oriented problem solver;
- Ability to work as team player and independently;
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment;
- Diligent, discreet and willing to handle sensitive information;
- Valid driving license category “B” and ability to drive EUSR official vehicles including 4X4 vehicles;
- Flexibility to travel throughout Kosovo.
