Intern to support the USAID Private Sector-Led Workforce Development Activity in Kosovo

Location: Pristina, Kosovo

Who We Are:

Background of Private Sector-Led Workforce Development Activity in Kosovo:

The USAID Private Sector-Led Workforce Development Activity (the Activity) in Kosovo, further referred to as the Activity, aims to harness the private sector’s leadership to build sustainable and innovative models to develop the Kosovo workforce in four sectors: Agribusiness, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Wood Processing, and Energy. One of the first activities of the Activity was the establishment of the Sector Workforce Councils for the three sectors, which are led by the selected sector Associations.1 Their role is to unite the private sector, educators, government, diaspora, civil society organizations, and donors, aiming to define sector workforce development needs and support workforce development solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Crimson is seeking an intern who will work with USAID Private Sector-Led Workforce Development Activity’s Component 1 on advancing private sector leadership in collaboratively determining needs, designing, and financing tailored workforce solutions. Additionally, the intern will engage closely with Sector Workforce Councils and the private sector to gather their insights on workforce development. The intern will work under the guidance of the Activity Deputy Chief of Party and Component 1 lead to support the Activity goals.

Main responsibilities:

   a. Assist Component 1 in four key activities including:

  • Sector Workforce Council Data Swap facilitation to determine private sector
    needs.
  • Workforce Innovation grants competition launching.
  • Sector Workforce Council Capacity building plan implementation.
        – Development of Occupational Standards
  • Support the maintenance of digital dashboards on workforce data.

   b. Assist Component 1 in planning, organizing, and coordinating workshops and events.
   c. Other tasks as assigned.

Under the guidance of Component 1 lead, the intern will be engaged with the private sector, government institutions, and donors, to advance private sector leadership in designing and building an ecosystem relationship with relevant stakeholders regarding workforce solutions.

This engagement is temporary and is expected to last up to 12 months, starting from November/December 2024.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree (recently graduated or in progress), preferably in, economic, management, engineering (renewable energy/mechanical/electrical, IT), public administration, public policy or any other relevant field.
  • Prior work experience:
  • Language proficiency: Fluent in English and Albanian – Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills. Fluency in Serbian or another minority language is an advantage.
  • Skills and abilities: Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Word and Excel, are essential. In addition, research skills and data processing and analysis are highly valuable. The candidate should be able to work effectively as part of a team and possess good communication skills. An innovative and creative approach to problem-solving is required. Proactivity and openness to communicate and accommodate new requests.

Mode of engagement:

The intern will be based in the IREX’s Office in Pristina. The intern will coordinate activities with the Activity, Councils, and different/relevant stakeholders in person and/or remotely.
