Project: Youth Environmental Impact (YENI)

Caritas Switzerland (CACH) Country Office for Kosovo is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified candidate for the position of the

School and Environment Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Project Manager (PM), the School and Environment Coordinator will support the implementation of the Project “Youth Environmental Impact” (YENI), in line with Caritas Switzerland rules and regulations and donors’ requirements.

Position summary:

The School and Environment Coordinator will implement activities planned under the project YENI, in line with the given intervention as described in the approved project document.

Main responsibilities:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager with main responsibility to develop, realize and improve the implementation of Climate Change and Environmental Protection activities in the target municipalities and with the targeted schools;
  • Oversee and organize the capacity building of the student’s councils, eco-clubs, teachers (biology and ecology) and school management and project implementing partners;
  • Support with mentoring and monitor their work and organize conferences, training or workshops, and provide technical input during different project events;
  • Contribute to the design of the project activity plan and support the project manager in planning, preparation and delivery of capacity building and training for municipal officials in conjunction with the approved action plan;
  • Supports the project manager and external experts in securing relevant data and information for the development of the successful monitoring system;
  • Assist to environmental skills trainers with Eco club trainings and master trainers with teacher training.Review on regular basis project details, deliverables and scheduled events according to the project action plan;
  • Run a small climate change project scheme and maintain accurate and complete records of project data on the youth climate change initiatives in target municipalities;
  • Support the project manager for preparation and organization of field visits and make necessary appointments with project stakeholders;
  • Maintain direct and regular communication with the project manager and contribute to written semester, monthly and weekly reports;
  • Prepare report from all field activities, including maintenance of the protocols, attendance lists, photos, etc; and recommend adjustments to improve project implementation;
  • Conducts other activities as requested by the project manager or as deemed necessary within the framework of the Caritas Switzerland Mission in Kosovo;
  • Maintain written track record of all project-related communication and agreements, and ensure that all project documentation is stored appropriately;

Requirements:

  • University degree in Biology, Ecology, Geography and Education. Advanced master’s degree or equivalent is an asset;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with environmental protection or climate change projects or related field;
  • Experience in implementing, monitoring and evaluating development projects is an advantage;
  • Experience in collaboration with International Organisations or NGOs, Government Institutions, and NGOs in the field of climate change and environmental protection, youth activism, or related fields;
  • Knowledge of Kosovo’s environment and climate policy;
  • Advanced skills in planning, communication, facilitation, and coordination;
  • Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken). Excellent knowledge of at least one local language (Albanian, Serbian), knowledge of a second local language is considered an asset;
  • Very good skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc);
  • Working experience with gender mainstreaming and conflict-sensitiveness is considered an asset;
  • A valid driving license; Willingness to travel throughout Kosovo;
